Trip of a Lifetime
"Twenty
years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't
do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from
the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.
Discover." -- Mark Twain
Hi, welcome to our home page. On February 13th my wife and I (bios)
finished packing up our lives in New York City and embarked on a journey to
circle the globe. Since we cant really get a feel for the cultures,
arts and sciences that other people embrace, in just a few weeks of annual
vacation, weve decided to pull up our stakes and become citizens
of the world, exploring and adventuring while trying to take in and understand
the true global community.
A lot of people think were a little crazy for packing up like this
with plans vague enough that our one year voyage could easily expand by
months or even years. Conservatively we expect to be gone a year, but
the truth is wed love to visit every country on earth, something
beyond the financial scope weve planned thus far. No matter what,
this trip should touch on all seven continents and about 40 countries
including Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, Fiji, New Guinea,
Borneo, Uruguay, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia,
Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet, China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Russia, Turkey, Finland,
Norway, Sweden, Greece, Italy, France, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Eritrea,
Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Western Africa, the UK and Iceland.
Like the majority of people were not ultra luxury travelers although
we do love to indulge when we can, but were not really backpackers
either. We'll walk the middle of that road with the occasional leaning
in one direction or the other - which always adds to the adventure of
adventure travel. While our trip kicked off in Argentina well be visiting every continent on the journey
Transportation will include just about every form of conveyance imaginable
depending upon opportunity and expense. From airline, to cruise ships,
to small boats, trains, buses, horseback, camel, elephant, motorbike,
bicycle, helicopter and of course foot.
Along the ways well be writing our travel guide "Planning
the Trip of A Lifetime" and indulging in some of our favorite
things, including world cuisine, drink, and activities such as mountain
climbing, trekking, scuba diving, fishing, rafting and of course just
laying out on a beach here and there and letting ourselves be pampered.
This site will allow everyone to follow our trip, share in our daily
thoughts, see some of the pictures and hear about some highlights from
both the beaten path and the path less traveled.
We hope that appeals to all of those with an adventurous soul and the
drive to experience what the world has to offer.
